Grey - E L James

Grey - E L James

See the world of Fifty Shades of Grey anew through the eyes of Christian Grey.

In Christian's own words, and through his thoughts, reflections, and dreams, E L James offers a fresh perspective on the love story that has enthralled millions of readers around the world.

Christian Grey exercises control in all things; his world is neat, disciplined, and utterly empty—until the day that Anastasia Steele falls into his office, in a tangle of shapely limbs and tumbling brown hair. He tries to forget her, but instead is swept up in a storm of emotion he cannot comprehend and cannot resist. Unlike any woman he has known before, shy, unworldly Ana seems to see right through him—past the business prodigy and the penthouse lifestyle to Christian’s cold, wounded heart.

Will being with Ana dispel the horrors of his childhood that haunt Christian every night? Or will his dark sexual desires, his compulsion to control, and the self-loathing that fills his soul drive this girl away and destroy the fragile hope she offers him?
Blurb from Goodreads

Just as the blurb states, this is the original Fifty Shades of Grey, but from the eyes of Mr Christian Grey himself. I have to be totally honest and admit that I was not a fan of book 2 or 3 of the series, but that's a review for another time. So reading this book, was me taking a deep breath, a large mouthful of wine and a double douse of courage. Then I took the plunge.

It did take me a while to get into it. It was a bit slow going, but then, seeing things from a narcissistic rich mans point of view, possibly is not my thing. How ever, enter Ana, and the fun begins.  I was slightly impressed with how the author addresses male thoughts, but wow, by the time we got to Chapter 3 just about heard enough "Damn's" and Talking about him 'Man Parts' as though it was a living breathing appendage, with it's own agenda.  Which ok, we all know most men would agree too, but we're not fooled! Without these slight bits, I would have read this book happily.  I totally enjoyed everything else, with only the same criticism as I had with the original Fifty Shades of Grey book.

Not everybody that walks the path of BDSM, has emotional or physical abuse happening. It's not helping BDSM come into the mainstream, by saying they're all abuse victims.  They're also, strangely, some of the most amazingly well rounded, thoughtful, caring, individuals, and likely to be in full term committed relationships.

Back to the book.....I loved getting inside Christians head, what a trip. Although, most of it you could see coming from a million miles away, the only bits you couldn't read, were the inner monologues with his mum. Heartbreaking. I still stand by my original stance that he is a very scary rich man with horrendous stalker tendencies, and that is just the bottom of the Ice Berg, I dread to think what he could be capable of, and not as a dominant.

All in all, it is a stand alone, ok book.  If you Loved, or liked the originals, chances are you'll like this one too.  However for me, personally, it was 2 out of 5 stars.  As it obviously has to follow the original story, where it proves there is so little research put in to the actual real BDSM and what people are like there.  The 'Hero' was based on a stalker type character, and the 'Heroine' based on a virginal girl who just can't say no to a man that looks and smells nice, and happens to have a lot of money.  At no point does she ever got to know him !

SCARY !

Love to All

The King - Tiffany Reisz

The King - Tiffany Reisz

Cunning. Sex. Pure nerve. Only this unholy threesome can raise him to his rightful place as a ruler of Manhattan's kink kingdom.

Bouncing from bed to bed on the Upper East Side, Kingsley Edge is brilliant, beautiful and utterly debauched. No carnal act or chemical compound can relieve his self-destructive heartache—only Søren, the one person he loves without limit or regret. A man he can never have, but in whose hands Kingsley is reborn to attain even greater heights of sin.

Kingsley's plan to open the ultimate BDSM club—a dungeon playground for New York's A-list—becomes his obsession. His expertise in domination can't subdue the one man who wants to stop him. The enigmatic Reverend Fuller won't rest until King's dream is destroyed, and so the battle lines are set; it's one man's sacred mission against another's

Although along the same lines as the amazing Tiffany Reisz usual books, and I was as usual, highly excited about this book, it was the first time I DNF. I'm distraught. 6 months I've been sat on this book, and I've read 126 pages. I'm not upset with the author, I'm disgusted with myself! I've never not finished a Tiffany Reisz book, and here I am seriously struggling with it.

I am not saying it's a bad book, not at all. In fact quite the opposite. It's a great book, but a bit hard going and slower than usual to get into. Unlike every other Tiffany fan on the planet, I'm not a King fan, I'm a Søren fan, which I think plays a huge part of it. I've had my high point in The Saint, and although theres a lot of Søren in The King, it's not his story, obviously. I get that, its an not meant to be. I'm happy with that!

I will go back to this book, I will...I did enjoy what I read, I am recommending it. I just can't get myself to read it, for whatever reason. So I shall go away, read some different authors for a while, and come back fresh. Still loving Tiffany as I always have done. She was my introduction to erotica, and for that,  I will always love her books.

An apology, and an amazing Comp !

I seriously need to apologise for not being around for the last few months. I've not been well. For the sake of honesty, in May I got such a head ache/pain, that I ended up in hospital with 2 infections on my lp shunt. Spinal meningitis and another one I can't remember the name of, that I am still on antibiotics for, a 6 month course of them. I was told quite frankly that this 2nd infection could and would have killed me, if I hadn't have found it so soon.
Then in September I got my pain clinic appointment through, and finally knew the reason why I am always tired but an insomniac, and always in pain, diagnosis Fibromyalgia and Allodynia. On top of my rare brain condition and Spinal complications, Chiari 1 Malformation and Syringomyelia.

I am NOT looking for sympathy, this is just me explaining why I have not been here, I apologise! But I am back now, and am in the middle if reading The King by Tiffany Reisz. Also now a member of both CJ Roberts and Jamie McGuire's street teams. I am very excited by that! Although there will be no sneak peaks here, unless asked to add something here.

Talking of which....

The Saint - Tiffany Reisz

Book Synopsis:

In the beginning, there was him.

Gutsy, green-eyed Eleanor never met a rule she didn't want to break. She's sick of her mother's zealotry and the confines of Catholic school, and declares she'll never go to church again. But her first glimpse of beautiful, magnetic Father Søren Stearns and his lust-worthy Italian motorcycle is an epiphany. Suddenly, daily Mass seems like a reward, and her punishment is the ache she feels when they're apart. He is intelligent and insightful and he seems to know her intimately at her very core. Eleanor is consumed—and even she knows that can't be right.

But when one desperate mistake nearly costs Eleanor everything, it is Søren who steps in to save her. She vows to repay him with complete obedience…and a whole world opens before her as he reveals to her his deepest secrets.

Danger can be managed—pain, welcomed. Everything is about to begin.

Review

This book delivers emotion, love, sex and surprises. What more could Nora and Søren fans ask for?! Umm, not much more, other than the happy ending we all want for them, but do we? Do we really?
This book takes us back to the very beginning, to 15yr old Eleanor Shreiber, and a newly appointed Catholic Priest. For all of us, who have sat there and wandered how it happened, how they fell into each other, those questions are now answered.  How does the daughter of a Nun, become the city's most infamous Dominatrix, not the Submissive of the most notorious Sadist in the underworld.
I was moved to tears in more than one place.  Although, for the life of me, I just don't understand why Nico was there, or in her bed. It makes no sense. I'm hoping it'll become clearer in the next book, which I have noticed, things usually do!!
Ohhh, to have been able to have read the scene between Nora and Sam - PLEASE!!!

5* out of  5*

The Last Good Knight - Tiffany Reisz

The Last Good Knight

                                            Tiffany Reisz

Part I: Scars and Stripes
It's lust at first sight when Mistress Nora encounters a sexy newcomer to The 8th Circle. She's happy for the distraction, since she left her lover, Søren, but her session with Lance is cut short when her boss, Kingsley Edge, reveals they're all in danger.

Hello tall, muscley and handsome ! This book set, is set in the time after Nora has handed her collar Soren (I apologise, my keyboard doesn't do the accented o properly *cries*, If Soren would like to come and deal with me, I'll willing hand myself in). So, where was I, the timing of the book is when Nora is King's top Dominatrix at the 8th Circle, and before Riley is living with her.
Wow, be prepared for a beautifully hot BDSM scene, as usual well thought out and wonderfully described, so it's incredibly hot. This man is as beautiful as he is submissive, which just makes Nora even hotter.

Part II: Sore Spots
With a potential stalker on the loose, Kingsley hires Lance as Nora's bodyguard, but stipulates no sex while he's on duty. Frustrated by the ex-SEAL's noble chivalry, Nora is driven to seek release with the one man she's trying to forget….

King promises Nora she doesn't have to stop working, he'll get her a bodyguard but, she's not allowed to have sex with this one. Little does King know, she already has, when that morning, Lance turns up at her door to be her dutiful and gorgeous bodyguard with a "Good morning Mistress" for her, to make it harder.
Everything about this ex-SEAL is everything Nora wants but also what she doesn't want. She's trying to talk herself out of him.
When things get a bit too much, knowing she can't touch Lance, she goes to the only man she can touch, but the only man she truly shouldn't, the one she's always running from.

Part III: The Games Destiny Plays
Shocked to see Nora's bruises, Lance is furious that she put herself in danger and demands to know where she got them. As Nora confesses her true nature, she's equally shocked to learn that Lance has some secrets of his own, drawing them together despite Kingsley's orders….

This is the most beautiful of all the books. Where you find out how much Lance already loves Nora, you already suspect it, yes he submitted straight away, but that's just submission, this is where you see love, and it's beautiful. Then you see acceptance and more real love, as love always accepts.
during a talk with one of Nora's clients, Lance drops a bombshell, which is going to change the nature of their relationship, for good !

Part IV: Fit to Be Tied
With her feelings for Lance warring with her recent encounter with Søren, Nora returns to Lance's bed and finds herself toying with the idea of…toying with him on a permanent basis. But after she gets a glimpse into his personal angst, Nora realizes she has the power to rescue this white knight….

Nora has to face the age old adage. give up on your love so they can be happy,or don't tell them and be selfish?
I'm not going to write anything else about book 4, It's a stunning, stunning book!, It's Nora, what do you think she does ?

Part V: The Last Good Night
Now that the perpetrator has been apprehended, Nora sadly acknowledges she doesn't need a bodyguard anymore. She adores Lance and wants to keep him but is faced with a dilemma  if she uses her connections to help Lance, she'll have to give him up forever'...

So the bad guys been caught, so Lance and Nora can have their happily ever after! She can take him on as her Sub, just like they both one, he could be collared by her ! Or, she could totally break Kingsley's law's and use his connections through their jobs, to get Lance what he needs. Which would mean Lance would have to leave and not come back.

All I can say about these books, is that by the end, I was reading these whilst in hospital, and I had tears streaming down my face. I was full on crying. I don't EVER cry at TV/Films or Books, it just doesn't happen. So this has been exceptionally well written, for the characters to have weaved their spell that well into me.
It's a well known fact that Tiffany Reisz is my all Time favourite erotica writer, but she has never had this effect on me before. I've always been able to see a fault before, like the the book took fast paced, or something blah blah....but no. As far as I'm concerned, this was perfect. It was exceptional. It even had the gorgeous Soren, so I can complain,

Titillating Sexy Except from Pulled Beneath

Saint’s hand moved to my cheek. He was holding it tighter than he probably should have been, but I needed that. I needed a bit of physical pain to mix with the emotional ache. It made me feel balanced.

“I…don’t know what to say, Drew.”

Nobody ever did.

My fingers touched his face, and the pad of my thumb grazed his lips. I melted from the sensation, from the texture of his flesh, the wetness of his mouth, the heat, I wanted all of them…all of them on me. “There’s nothing you can say.”

“No, I guess not.”

I was compelled by more than just the way he had listened or the brokenness I saw in his eyes. It was the feelings that had continued to stir within me since the first time we’d met, the ones that had nothing to do with our mutual pain. But it hadn’t meant as much to me then as it did now. Still, I couldn’t act on it. I couldn’t want anything from him.

Could I?

I slowly closed the gap between us, using my legs to draw him against me, letting our faces drift nearer. My arms began to fold around his neck. And just as my lips were about to touch his, he lifted me into the air above him.

“Tell me, Drew.” His chest was rising as fast as mine. “Tell me this is really what you want. If not, I’ll put you back on land and we can forget this ever happened.”

I hung weightless, his hands supporting all of me as I thought about his question. Was I even in the right state of mind to give him an answer? I felt free in his grip…and hungry.

There was nothing I wanted more than his lips all over me.

“It’s what I want,” I whispered. “Don’t let me go.”

He gently slid me down his body, bringing me deeper into the water as his hands traveled to the small of my back. My legs found his waist again, circling around him, pulling him into me. His mouth parted when I neared. Just before my lips touched his, he bent his head and kissed my neck, the spot where my throat met my chest. His hair tickled my nose, filling me with the smell of the ocean and his skin. My nipples hardened, poking into him, begging for his fingertips. It wasn’t only my desire I could feel…his was there, too, pressing into me.

“I can’t wait to kiss you,” he said.

“Then why don’t you?”

His mouth suddenly left my neck and traveled to my chin, slowly rising up my cheek and to my ear. He moved his lips across my forehead and down the other side, stopping when he reached my earlobe. He stayed there, breathing into my face, the intensity between us growing.

The anticipation teased my nerves and everything inside me began to shake.

“Saint…” I whispered.

He leaned away from me and used the back of my head to bring me to him, steering me straight toward his mouth. “I’ve waited so long to do this, you needed to know what that waiting felt like.”

My eyes closed. “Don’t make me wait any longer.”

Before I even had the last word out of my mouth, his teeth and tongue had found me. Every time he pulled away to reposition his lips, he ever so gently nipped at mine, then his tongue would explore again. He was in complete control and I was melting beneath him.

Daisy Prescott - ready to Fall

When you fall, you fall hard...

Every girl dreams of meeting a man like John Day. Tall, dark, and handsome is an understatement. With rugged good looks, his ever present plaid shirt, and a dog named Babe, John is a modern alpha male lumberjack in more ways than one.

Lurking beneath the flannel and beard could be the heart of a romantic. Or is John a wolf in flannel clothing?

After his favorite neighbor rents out her cabin for the winter, John finds himself playing fireman and tour guide to Diane Watson, a beautiful brunette with her own messy past and recent battle scars.

Will he be ready to fall in love? Or will he fall back into his old, flirty ways?

Hold onto your heart... and get ready to fall with John Day as he tells his story in this contemporary romance/romantic comedy told in male POV.

This is a spin-off from Geoducks Are for Lovers. It is not necessary to read that novel first.

I love this book. John Day is a gorgeous rough n ready man, in need of some love, but doesn't really know it. Diane is running from her past, and has escaped it by coming to the island, and immediately bumped into John. From there, I will not tell you any more of the story, because it really is worth reading for yourself. It's not all sex, it's not all flowers and roses, but it is
beautifully written.

Daisy Prescott

Before writing funny contemporary romances about adults, I dreamed of being an author while doing a lot of other things. Antiques dealer, baker, blue ribbon pie-maker, fangirl, freelance writer, gardener, pet mom and wife are a few of the titles I've acquired along the way.

Born and raised in San Diego, my husband and I currently live in a real life Stars Hollow in the Boston suburbs with our dog, Hubbell, and an imaginary house goat.

Ready to Fall, my second novel, features John Day, the hot, sexy neighbor in my debut novel Geoducks Are for Lovers. Both can be read as stand-alones. I'm busy researching my next novel, which will not feature any bivalves.
